The plastic model has well-defined molded detail, including rooftop air-conditioning ducts and rivet seams. The diaphrams are separately applied. The underbody has a molded brake cylinder, Pullman mechanical air-conditioning, and other details.
The one-piece interior is molded in green with seat details. The roof is press-fit and can be removed.
Paint coverage on the model is smooth and evenly applied. The “PULLMAN” lettering is straight.
The car is also available lettered for Hidden Lake, which was a 10-1-2 sleeper built to plan 3585 in 1924 for the Great Northern Ry.’s Oriental Limited. That model has Empire Builder lettering, but according to The Official Pullman Standard Library: Selected Heavyweight cars, the prototype had PULLMAN lettering.
The body-mounted Magne-Matic knuckle couplers are mounted at the correct height per National Model Railroad Association standard S-2. All the plastic wheels are in gauge. The car weighs 1.5 ounces, which follows NMRA RP-20.1 for a car of this length.
