Work is well underway on the HO scale (1:87.1) Milwaukee, Racine & Troy East Troy Industrial Park, our latest project layout and the first model railroad to be constructed at the new Firecrown Media offices in suburban Milwaukee, Wis. We recently received a sample of the Walthers Cornerstone transload facility pavement kit (item No. 933-4186), and the timing couldn’t have been better. Trains.com Director David Popp and Model Railroader Associate Editor Bryson Sleepy, who are putting the finishing touches on the tracklaying phase of the project, took a break from installing roadbed and track to take a closer look at this injection-molded plastic kit, which includes transload pavement sections along with various track accessories that complement any number of loading and unloading operations.

So what’s inside the Walthers Cornerstone HO transload facility pavement kit? There are 12 each pavement sections (8-13/16” x 4-7/16” x ⅛”) and cement drip pan center sections (4-⅛” x 1-½” x ⅛”); eight cement drip pan end sections (11/16” x 1-½” x ⅛”); six inner and outer track walkways (8-13/16” x 1-5/16” x 1/16”); and four each composite track pans (2-½” x 1-⅜” x 1/16”), metal track pans (2-11/16” x 1-½” x 1/16”), and heavy-duty cement crossings (4-⅛” x 1-½” x ⅛”).

The Walthers Cornerstone HO transload facility pavement kit is priced at $31.98. You can order it direct from the manufacturer or purchase it from your favorite Wm. K. Walthers Inc. retailer.

And be sure to check out David and Bryson’s review of the new WalthersTrack HO scale foam roadbed, also on Trains.com.
