  1. I like the nostalgic effect of the painted-on figures inside. It brought me back to my Gilbert American Flyer days 60 years ago.

  2. Can’t wait for the first article in MR on taking the toy out of the Bachmann PCC trolley.

  3. Way, way too toy-like. The silhouettes are a thing of the passed that should stay there.

  4. I used to ride the PCC cars on the Shaker Rapid in Cleveland. I recall that they made a lot more noise than that!

  5. Excellent review. The strret caar looks false the way the windows and people are painted on the window covers. Why not have clear windows, seats and scale people sitting in those seats.

  6. Come on Bachmann! No one who runs DCC is going to want those pathetic white windows. How much harder/expensive could it be to give us a non-toy-grade car? Fail.

  7. While this PPC car, as mentioned below, is sub-standard, the Bachmann Brill is an excellent trolley. The new motor provides smooth operation at any speed and looks like the prototype. Just pop-out the silhouette window covers and spray the body with a dull-coat. The Bachmann Brill blows away the PCC. Same company….go figure.

  8. What this car needs is a generator car attached so that it can run anywhere. But, as Mr. Skonicki observed, this car might be too small. It needs to grow in scale and operate on a third rail (between the other rails) in order to be of some use. I would definitely join the “not on my railroad” group on this one.

  9. Note to Robert C. San Francisco has a work car borrowed from Market Street Railway (Yes Muni has a fan club, they are the bunch behind the heritage colors on the PCC’s on Market St. ) to test new trackwork with a generator mounted on it. Looks like the recycled Bachmann car from years gone by. And it is so American Flyer of six decades ago.

  10. I have been modeling HO traction for over 40 years and I do not like this PCC car. The trolley pole may have a sparking LED but the pole itself is non operational. The silhouette of passengers and conductor in the windows is toy-like. The color is not correct for CTA and the detail is poor. Sorry Bachmann, you came close, but no cigar.
