  1. Bang for $$ it’s hard to beat right form the box ! and after the dreamy wears off, time to detail !!! , man these are such classic engines !!! (E series from EMD)

  2. good review and I see Cody fixed that mistake with the quite zone chevron markings at the crossing. in the June 2010 issue (which I have) they are pointing the wrong way.

  3. The unit sounds “ok” to my ears from this video. Robert: I have upgraded one of my two Proto 2000 PA’s with QSI Titan A’s refitted with the newer Alco 244 Soundset. I do believe MTH has done a PA with sound (using the old Lifelike tooling?), although I would gladly welcome another.

  4. Nice! The sound on that sounds really good. I have to wonder if the locomotive has other effects like notching up the engine RPM to get the train started?

  5. For the price that Bachmann is charging for this unit, I could buy a Broadway Limited unit that has better sound, more details – train phone antennas, and more functions – working class lights as well as the Walthers Proto 2000 series. Bachmann also doesn’t have any B units.

  6. Just what we needed, an other E unit. Perhaps one of these years, someone might just do a PA with sound. Now about this one, not too bad, but the bell sounded a bit “dinky”. Just wonder if the decoder offers different bell sounds.

  7. I love the SoundTraxx Tsunami line of decoders. Even the Econami decoders are decent. But, I have to say the “soundtraxx light” versions they use in the Bachmann locomotives just don’t cut it for me. I am sorry but the horn sounds horrible. Maybe it’s time for Soundtraxx to update the sounds on these models too.
