  1. Alco PAs are my most favorite Alco model locomotive. Speaking of models, have any of you got that Walthers Flyer Catalog because I got one last Sunday.

  2. Having recently purchased a GN FA1/FB1 of MTH origin but in the DC version, I think I would rather have these in the same mode. I think I would replace the circuit board with a Tsunami board rather than plug one in. At least the DC versions come with Kadee wannabe couplers.

  3. You guys are teasing us by showing us a glimpse of the Winter Hill layout! 🙂 I still don't know why you took down the webcam. Probably didn't want to show the layout before it even appeared in the magazine.

  4. Yes, it is an Alco running without a turbo charger. The detail is great and the smoke effect is not that impressive. Just wait and somebody will improve the smoke issue. It still is a great model, running in one of my favorite road names.

  5. Nice looking locomotives, too bad they're not coupled closer, the distance gives a toy like appearance. Love the train!

  6. The reason the Alcos are so far apart is because of those remote operating MTH proto couplers, they were a great idea but they are 2-3 scale feet too long which is why they look so toyish. It is a simple fit and the model comes with replacement kadee couplers, however they are NOT metal

  7. Looks like another great product mrom MTH,—BUT white smoke from an ALCO?. Also need Nickel Plate Road units.

  8. I also think that the smoke is a total waste. The powered front coupler would be the next thing that I would toss. (for that matter I would likely rewire them with a real DCC Decoder.)

Are there more than 10 people running HO railroads with DCS?

  9. Nice, I would like to see this type of "short" for N-scale rolling stock and prime movers.

  10. I like the gyro light and smoke… but shouldn't the smoke be black? I mean, it IS an Alco!! 😉

  11. I hope that they do a A-A set in Lehigh Valley. The Alco FA units are Great, running and sound, also the paint is correct. You can't get any bettr then that.

  12. Great looking locos but I'm not a fan of the DCS system. To many negative experiences using on a DCC system.

  13. That's not nearly enough smoke from an Alco. somebody
should invent proto-typical smoke. Can you see those engines
starting up belching acrid, black smoke? you'd have to go
    outside for air!
