Andrew, that looks to be a 1950 or so Cadillac or Buick. I have no idea who made it, but I would buy a few. 🙂
That burgundy auto is sweet! Anybody know what year and make that is or who made it?
Scott, thanks for the information. I appreciate the clarification.
just like going t Disney’s World and staying in the parking lot looking over the gate, really, you couldn’t have shown more of this great layout? wow,, whata tease);
I was interested in Dick’s facia material but when I googled it nothing seemed to come up. In doing a little research I found that slate is usually laid on plywood and the felt directly on the slate. Would it be possible to get some more information about the product.
David, the material is actually called industrial matte felt. It’s used to line winter boots, used in military applications, and used to apply adhesives on automated production lines. It comes in large rolls of various textures and colours. It is considered a “non-woven” textile. Great stuff, but hard to find.
Try gluing some road bed to the foam for the ground troughs on Ho or N scale hand ops turnouts !
Nice blending of layout scenes into the background! That is one of my current projects!
One of best model RR’s in the U.S. Very few look as good in real life as in pictures but this one sure does.
Outstanding backdrop and weathering, but the display format ratio distorted everything making the locos and rolling stock look too long.
I have had the distinct privilege to visit Dick’s layout about 3 or 4 years ago. Sometimes videos and photo spreads simply don’t do any justice to a person’s true artistry (I truly enjoyed the spread in MR, and getting a chance to see photos of his new work). This is one of those layouts, once you see it you will understand what I’m trying to say. I hope to get another chance to visit his layout in the near future.
looks good
If you want colorful, look at some the locomotive paint schemes on railroads in the southeastern part of the United States – namely the Florida East Coast “Champion” scheme and the Atlantic Coast Line purple scheme.
Sheesh why does everybody like blue locomotives, or somber dark green. Of course the other extreme was EsPee circus wagon Daylight colors. The animal paint (Tiger and Zebra)stripes was also basic black.
Loved the autumn backdrop. Your F-unit paint scheme sorta looks like a modified NYC lightening stripe. Nice.
Refreshing to see a classic HO layout with covered wagons wearing a realistic inspired post WWII color scheme. This is Professional Freelancing at it’s very best. Bet even the Dean of Model Railroading, John Allen, was impressed! Thank you for the presentation.
