Terry B. Ketcham gives you a walking tour of his multilevel model train layout, the HO scale West Virginia & Southern Ry. The Appalachian scenery and industries are inspired by the Norfolk & Western Ry. of the 1950s. You’ll also see some of Terry’s sound-equipped steam locomotives running along the main line of this great model railroad.

  1. Maybe I’m just an old fogey but I much prefer videos like these that have some audio telling you about the railroad, maybe that’s why I like the video vault so much.

  2. Magnificent! Excellent reproduction of Appalachian railroad scenery. I had never heard the term “load out” before. Here in West Virginia, those would generally be called tipples. Great work!

  3. Nicely done scenery. I like the walk around that shows the whole layout. Also nice to see a layout that has lots of figures on it. Interesting elevated control panels.

  4. My wife and I think that this is one of the most realistic and scenic of model railroads that we’ve seen. Exceptional with placement of people and vehicles. Background very much like Appalachia ! I would like to see a full length and feature of this video.

  5. Very nice looking layout! Reminds me of when I was in WV a few years ago. The look of small yards crammed into mountain valleys was done well.

  6. Nice railroad. This looks like it would be fun to run. There’s also lots of neat details that would make it fun to see in person someday.
