Will and Steve Brown built a dual-deck, dual-era HO scale model railroad with modern-era diesels running on the lower deck, and narrow gauge steam running on the upper deck. Both decks feature stunning Colorado mountain scenery.

  1. This is a great layout. It looks like the real thing. I have traveled in this area a few times and he has done a great job of showing it the way it really is. Good work.

  2. I have traveled through this area from Salida to Mintern and this layout depicts the area very well. The scenery looks like the real thing. Good work.

  3. Nice layout!! I was intrigued with one aspect of the layout and that was the beveled fascia on the upper level. This is a great idea and may have solved my concerns with deck spacing and viewing angles for my layout. What was the size of the lumber used on the upper level?

  4. Steven & Bill, Your layout has always blown my mind. You and your Thursday night work crew have set modeling railroad standards the rest of us need to shoot for. Lou's photos are great but I keep looking at my own shots I took in 2012 for ideas. The details you insert into the layout are unreal. Thanks again for sharing. Sherward

  5. Beautiful integration of modelled rock formation scenery in foreground complemented with great photo murals for background. Splendid effect! Well done!

  6. A super layout!! Agree with Andrew from U.K. about mountains and formations. One of the best I've ever seen!

  7. Very nice. Must have shot the video shortly after UP took over the SP as the SP units haven't been patched out. It was nice to note that the narrow gauge had sound.

  8. Those are some of the best-looking rock formations and mountains I have seen on any layout, well done! How about an article showing us how you achieved the effect?
