I really have to give credit to the MR staff for coverage of this beautiful British layout. I’m an American HO modeler but visited the Peco factory in Beer England in the late ’90s. It was a wonderful day and thoroughly enjoyed viewing the Peco factory layouts and the town itself. I highly recommend any model railroaders that are planning a trip to England, to try to go there, you won’t be disappointed. Chris White’s layout takes me back to that day in the south of England, unforgettable!

I was born in Woking, went to Nursery school in Weybridge, I went to Brooklands Technical college in Weybridge near Sir Richards bridge. after I moved to the the US in 1963 my mum & dad lived in Weybridge, my brother had a hairdressing salon in Weybridge at the top of the hill. For 19 years I lived in Shepperton by the river and used the Ferry to go to kindergarten in Weybridge. My brother lives in Golds worth park in Woking. My dad knew Shorty Long Bottom who was killed in a crash in a Mosquito aircraft in the railroad cutting between Weybridge. Station and Sir Richards bridge near the station. I have lot of British N Guage, 2mm scale buildings, rolling stock, engines and scenary. One day i will put it all together. Other than that I have nothing to do with this layout. Oh, and BTW, in 2 days I will see Cody Grivno at a NMRA Division show in MA. Adrian
Love this. I lived and worked in England for several years and while there picked up some nice Hornby and Vitrains equipment. We’ve recently moved to a new house and planning a new basement layout. It’s set in the northeast US but somewhere on it will be a “museum/excursion” railroad featuring my British equipment I brought home with me. Everything is compatible with US HO and the NMRA decoder standards.
Very nicely sceniced…Makes me anxious to “get cracking” on the scenery of my British outline layout!
Very good layout indeed and great to see in MR! As a former UK resident, I still dabble in British N scale, but mainly model US railroads now. If you want to model UK railways, it is easy to do – just import the stock and vehicles, and there are numerous great suppliers such as Rails of Sheffield and Hattons who are happy to ship internationally, so give it a try! You don’t even have to pay sales tax like the Brits do! Quality is usually great – Hornby, Bachmann and Dapol leading the way.
There are also many magazines (more than in the US). I like Railway Modeler and British Rail Modeling. Books a Million sometimes stock these titles, at least my local one does in Florida.
To Robert’s point about the 3rd rail, yes it is a 3rd rail electric in the Southeast of the country and the 3rd rail is placed next to the track, so all track is fenced to prevent accidents. Could be a challenge to model as it complicates the ballasting process, and rather time consuming, I should think!

I had finished all the track work prior to Bachmann bringing out the SR EMUs. As I always traveled up to London in an EMU I had to include on the railroad and adding a third rail would have been most difficult at that stage.
Thank you MR for widening the model railway world beyond North America. Would love to see more. Nice railway and video with realistic speed for the trains.

Very nice. Interesting to note the self-propelled passenger cars didn’t make noise. Are they, perhaps, electric? And if so, where is the 3rd rail?
