Modeler Dave Abeles answers a series of questions regarding his model railroading journey. In this video, Abeles explains his young start, and how his passion for trains has kept him coming back to the hobby for years. Not only does he offer his advice to novice hobbyists, he also discusses some of his own experiences – both his modeling successes and mistakes.
Main modeling tip: Bring people together
There are many facets to model railroading and many experts you can reach out to. Abeles feels his biggest mistake was that he didn’t reach out earlier. In his Q and A, he says, “If I had a chance to start again, I would write letters to magazines in hopes their staff would pass them along to the authors of articles.”
