LOS ANGELES — Rapper Snoop Dogg will serve as host for LA Metro events of the reopening of its light rail A Line (formerly known as the Blue Line) on Saturday, Nov. 2.

The rapper, along with Metro and Los Angeles officials, will be part of press conferences and reopening ceremonies at three sites: At 11 a.m. at The Bloc, an office and retail development adjacent to the 7th Street/Metro Center, along with officials including Metro CEO Phillip Washington; at approximately 11:24 a.m. at the 103rd Street/Watts Tower station, with officials including LA Mayor Eric Garcetti and Compton Mayor Aja Brown; and at Promenade Square in Long Beach at approximately 11:44 a.m., with officials including Long Beach Mayor and Metro board member Robert Garcia, and L.A. County Supervisor and Metro board member Janice Hahn.

Parts of the line have been closed since January for a $350 million upgrade. [See “LA Metro on schedule with Blue Line construction work,” Trains News Wire, March 26, 2019.] The line has been closed in two segments for a $350 million upgrade since All three sites will host community celebrations from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Rides on the A Line will be free Saturday through Monday, Nov. 4.
