WASHINGTON — Amtrak has extended cancellations of some trains and modified schedules for others because of the continuing effects of Hurricane Dorian.
Thursday, Sept. 5, and Friday, Sept. 6, schedule changes include:
— The north and southbound Palmetto will operate between New York and Richmond, Va., but are cancelled between Richmond and Savannah, Ga.
— Northeast Regional train 95, which normally operates between Boston and Norfolk, Va., will operate from Boston to Richmond, but is cancelled between Richmond and Norfolk. Another Boston-Norfolk train, Northeast Regional No. 93, will operate only from Boston to Washington.
— Two Northeast Regional trains that normally operate to Newport News, Va., will also only serve a portion of their routes. Train No. 125 will operate from New York to Richmond; train No. 67 will operate from Boston to Washington.
— Auto Train service is cancelled in both directions between Lorton, Va., and Sanford, Fla. The Silver Star and Silver Meteor are cancelled in both directions on Thursday, but only the northbound trains have been cancelled on Friday.
Schedule changes for Friday, Sept. 6, include:
— Northeast Regional No. 94 is cancelled from Norfolk to Richmond, but will operate from Richmond to Boston. Northeast Regional No. 84 is cancelled from Norfolk to Washington but will operate from Washington to New York.
— Northeast Regional No. 174 is cancelled from Newport News to Richmond but will operate from Richmond to Boston. Northeast Regional No. 66 is cancelled from Newport News to Washington but will operate from Washington to Boston.
On Saturday, Sept. 7, the southbound Palmetto is scheduled to resume regular operation from New York to Savannah. The northbound Palmetto will run Washington to New York only on that day.
