ROANOKE, Va. — The Virginia Museum of Transportation is searching for a new executive director for the third time in less than two years.
On Nov. 27, Bob Sigman stepped down as the head of the museum after six months. In May, Sigman had replaced Lisa Sphar, who had been on the job for just four months. Prior to Sphar, Bev Fitzpatrick held the position for 11 years.
With Sigman’s departure, deputy director Don Moser will serve as interim director while the museum searches for a new leader.
In a statement to Trains News Wire, Moser says that Sigman’s departure came “under amicable circumstances.” Sigman had been hired as a contract employee earlier this year so that both parties could determine if was a good fit.
“The VMT wishes Mr. Sigman all the best in his future endeavors and appreciates his time at the museum,” Moser says.
Moser is no stranger to VMT, having been deputy director of the museum for more than a decade.
Here’s to hoping this mean the 611 won’t completely be retired.
