Applications are sought for Trains’ annual Preservation Award NEWSWIRE

WAUKESHA, Wis. — Trains Magazine will offer its 21st annual $10,000 Preservation Award this fall to a non-profit educational organization involved in saving railroad history.

Applications are being accepted now through Oct. 15. Entrants should send a description of the project of no more than 200 words, 1-3 photos, and a basic budget showing funding sources and expenditures and how the Trains grant contributes.

Eligible projects are the restoration or preservation of locomotives, passenger cars, or freight cars, or the establishment or conservation of archives. All projects should be of a regional or national significance. No restorations of existing structures or the construction of new buildings will be considered. Preferred are projects for which the Trains grant will kickstart or complete a project and for which the grant will be spent by Dec. 31, 2020.

Email applications are preferred and should be sent to PresAward@trainsmag.com. Applications by mail may be sent to 21027 Crossroads Circle, Waukesha, WI, 53187. The winner will be announced during Trains Magazine’s Grand Canyon Railway photo charter in Williams, Ariz., on Oct. 26.
