The outage joins other UP service suspensions in the Southern Region including four routes emanating from a junction at Wagoner, Okla., to Little Rock, McAlester, Okla., and to Coffeeville and Parsons, Kan., along with trackage from near Omaha to near Kansas City and from Kansas City to Jefferson City, Mo.
UP says it continues to monitor the situation in Pine Bluff. UP has moved rolling stock out of its recently-closed hump yard, pulled up tracks running through gaps in the city’s levee system to allow them to be filled in, and modified other trackage to allow for limited amounts of critical Chicago-Texas traffic to pass through Pine Bluff, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
Service has resumed on the approximately 30-mile UP Oklahoma City Subdivision between Oklahoma City and El Reno, Okla., and UP says it continues to closely monitor conditions on its southern Kansas City-Jefferson City line.
BNSF Railway says continued closures include the Napier Subdivision south of Omaha, and several sections of trackage along the Mississippi River.
Rain is in the forecast for Arkansas each day through Saturday.
