The annual Carillon Park Rail Festival in Dayton is cancelled for 2020. The event, which features miniature train rides with live steam locomotives, historical exhibits, and a swap meet, is traditionally held the weekend after Father’s Day. Organizers expect that it will return June 26-27, 2021. For more information, go to www.railfestival.com.
Ohio’s premier railfan event, the annual Summerail multimedia show and swap meet in Marion, will also take the year off due to coronavirus concerns. The event normally takes place the second weekend in August and for many years was held at Cincinnati Union Terminal. Organizers tell Trains News Wire that the 2020 program lineup is expected to carry over to 2021.
“Summerail is an expensive production and if we proceeded and so few tickets were sold, there might not be a Summerail 2021,” event organizers say in a statement. “While this decision is most regretful, we hope you understand and will join us in 2021 to make it the best Summerail ever.”

CURTIS – Fostoria seems a better choice than Marion, I’ve done both.
Meanwhile, train-watching at Marion, a short hop north of Columbus, should be good.
