North East Borough Manager Patrick Gehrlein says this money will go towards improving area businesses’ facades, security upgrades, and street lights. Borough officials will have three years to implement these improvement projects. The museum’s main outdoor equipment displays are located within the area that will benefit from this money located near Clinton and Wall streets. The museum will also benefit from more exposure once these improvements are complete as these enhancements are meant to tie this area into the core downtown business district which is about a half mile away.
About 300,000 people visit the museum annually. For more information, go to lakeshorerailway.com.
