TACOMA, Wash. — Sound Transit has released potential routes and begun the public-comment period for its planned for its Tacoma Dome Link Extension, which will connect Tacoma’s light rail to Sea-Tac Airport and the rest of the regional light rail system.
The expansion will add 9.7 miles and four stations to the existing Tacoma Link light rail, with the new segment scheduled to open in 2030, but exact routes and station locations are still to be determined. Maps and other documents related to the expansion are available at the Sound Transit website.
Three open houses will seek public comment: April 16 in Fife, Wash., April 17 in Tacoma, and April 23 in Federal Way. Details on those meetings, and other ways to comment, are outlined here.
Put it this way and for whatever it’s worth. If they build this link I’m much more likely to visit and spend money in Tacoma if I fly into the area. I’m otherwise heading into Seattle.
