MONTREAL — Canadian National has announced ongoing intermodal relationships with two ocean carriers, Evergreen Line and COSCO Shipping.

CN and Evergreen’s new intermodal agreement extends a 27-year relationship between the companies and includes Evergreen’s usage of such CN-served ports as Vancouver, Prince Rupert, British Columbia, and Halifax, Nova Scotia.

COSCO has chosen CN as its exclusive rail provider from the same ports plus Montreal to all CN destinations.

“By choosing CN to service all inland destinations on the network, COSCO will be well positioned to benefit from a unique tri-coastal access,” says Keith Reardon, CN senior vice president of consumer product supply chain.

Roy Amalfitano, vice chairman of Evergreen’s marketing arm, Evergreen Shipping Agency (America), also lauded CN’s three-coast network and says: “After nearly three decades of close collaboration, we look forward to being able to rely on their excellence in transportation services.”

Shanghai-based COSCO has 361 container ships; Evergreen of Taiwan operates more than 150.

  1. @John Rice

They didn’t forget. Both ports are undergoing expansion. Not to mention CN serves the Port of South Louisiana. The largest port by tonnage in the Western Hemisphere. Over 60% of our nations grains are exported via Port of South Louisiana.

  2. CN keeps forgetting they have service in those sleepy “little” ports called New Orleans and Mobile. Someone needs to remind them that they actually own rails south of Chicago sometimes.
