GOLDEN, Colo. — The Colorado Railroad Museum will celebrate its 60th anniversary with events this Thursday through Sunday, July 11-14.
Events include rides on a Galloping Goose railcar, a Friday banquet, a Saturday “parade of locomotives,” rides behind a steam locomotive on Saturday and Sunday, and other special events. A VIP Weekend Ticket is available covering all events.
Founders Bob Richardson and Corneilius W. Hauck turned the first dirt at the museum in 1959.
“There were a lot of railroads, especially narrow gauge railroads, that were going out of business in the late 1950s and they wanted to preserve Colorado railroad history,” museum Executive Director Donald Tallman said in a press release. “There are people from all over the world who love Colorado railroad history because it is so different and so unique. We say that we bring Colorado railroad history to life.”
