NEW YORK — Amtrak has cancelled or altered service on a number of trains in the Southeastern U.S. because of a severe winter storm, with some of the changes effective through Tuesday.
The cancellations began Saturday. The following trains have been cancelled for today (Sunday, Dec. 9):
— Auto Trains No. 52 and 53 between Lorton, Va., and Sanford, Fla.
— Crescents No. 19 and 20 between New York and New Orleans.
— Silver Meteors No. 97 and 98 between New York and Miami.
— Carolinians No. 79 and 80 between New York and Charlotte
— All Piedmonts (Nos. 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, and 78) between Raleigh and Charlotte.
Additional cancellations and service changes announced as of Sunday include:
— The southbound Crescent (No. 19) has also been cancelled on Monday, Dec. 10.
— The southbound Silver Star (no. 91) will operate only between Jacksonville, Fla., and Miami on Monday, Dec. 10, and Tuesday, Dec. 11.
— Northeast Regional No. 176, which normally begins in Roanoke, Va., will operate between Washington, D.C., and New York on Monday, Dec.
— The Cardinal, No. 51, which normally begins in New York, will only operate from Indianapolis to Chicago on Monday, Dec. 10.
