ROME, N.Y.—Services for former Amtrak president Joseph H. Boardman have been announced.
Visitation is to be held this Thursday, March 14, in Rome, N. Y. from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 West Chestnut Street. A funeral mass is scheduled at 11 a.m. the next day, March 15, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 1807 Bedford Street in Rome.
In lieu of flowers, the family is inviting contributions to three of Boardman’s favorite charities: Unity Acres in Orwell. N.Y., described as “a house of hospitality for hurting and homeless men;” Health Friends of Utica, N.Y., which provides partial medication payments for those in need; and the Epilepsy Foundation. Other details and a tribute page are available here.
Boardman died of a stroke last Thursday while vacationing in Florida.

RIP, in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. May you rest in peace in my own favorite part of the world (though I never lived there myself), your home in the Mohawk Valley of New York State.
RIP Mr. Boardman
