PLANO, Ill. — Two Kendall County communities will host open-house meetings on possible extension of Metra’s BNSF line beyond Aurora, Ill., into the county.
Plano will hold a meeting on Dec. 2 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Plano Community Library; the next night, there will be a meeting at the Oswego Village Hall from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
WSPY Radio reports the meeting will offer information on a study on extension of the BNSF line, which is considering yard locations and possible stations in Plano, Oswego, Montgomery, Yorkville, and Sandwich.
The Illinois legislature has earmarked $100 million to begin the extension process [see “Illinois passes budget with funds for transit, commuter, intercity rail,” Trains News Wire, June 3, 2019] but the extension is still considered a long-term project [see “Two Illinois counties are rivals for Metra extension that’s unlikely to happen,” Trains News Wire, June 14, 2019].
In Illinois, the money grows on trees.
Big waste of tme and money.
