Globalnews.ca reports that the train derailed about 3:30 a.m. Sunday southeast of Edmonton near Armena, Alta., with 28 cars on the ground including covered hoppers and at least one car with vegetable oil. The news outlet reports that vegetable oil spilled, but was quickly contained.
The outlet cites railroad officials saying they did not know how long it would take to clean up the right-of-way.
The report didn’t even give the temperature in C or F. What was the weather at the time. Was it single track or double track. Was it near switches or a culvert or bridge? What was the length of the train?
Let see 10 minutes video from before it happened of the crew in the cab for what they were doing.
Kind of a lackluster report, even by TRAINS Newswire standards.

The rail line is CN’s Camrose subdivision, the main line between Edmonton and Calgary.
Armena is 10 miles north of Camrose.
Vegetable oil, as if there’s any real environmental threat from vegetable oil(hint: there isn’t).
