In a press release, LA Metro reported ACS Infrastructure Development, LA SkyRail Express, Sepulveda Transit Corridor Partners (Bechtel), Sepulveda Transit Corridor Partners (Fengate), and Tutor Perini, Parsons & Plenary had “met Metro’s initial qualifications for submitting a Predevelopment Agreement (PDA) proposal to assist with project planning and design, with the potential opportunity to enter into an Implementation Agreement for the project after completion of the PDA work.”
Up two of the teams will be awarded a PDA to work with Metro and other stakeholders to develop the project and provide design and engineering support.
The Sepulveda project will involve construction of an approximately 13-mile route from the Van Nuys Metrolink station to Metro’s light rail Expo line, with eventual extension to the airport. Heavy rail and monorail equipment are under consideration. [see “LA Metro considers options for Sepulveda corridor,” Trains News Wire, Nov. 8, 2019.] The project is slated to receive $9.5 billion in federal, state, and local funding, and is currently projected to open in 2033, with the connection to the airport opening in 2057. Metro says, however that its “staff is working aggressively” to accelerate that schedule.
