CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A veteran CSX Transportation employee was killed Saturday when struck by a locomotive at a Chattanooga-area yard.

Allen Lowe, a 24-year CSX employee, was struck and killed about 5 p.m. Friday at Wauhatchie yard. CSX and local law enforcement are investigating, WRCB-TV reports. He was the father of two children.

“Safety is CSX’s highest priority and our goal is for every employee to return home safely,” a CSX spokesman told the TV station. “Losing a fellow railroader is difficult for everyone at CSX, and we will conduct a thorough investigation to understand the cause of this incident.”
