ROME, N.Y. – Locomotive horns blew at 11:01 a.m. on Friday in Rome and across the Amtrak network to honor former President and CEO Joe Boardman who died March 7 following complications of a stroke.
A moment of silence was held at 11 a.m., followed by the sounding of a former F40PH locomotive horn mounted on an Amtrak employee’s vehicle – and locomotive horns throughout the Amtrak system.
Friday’s service took place at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Rome.
Trains News Wire will have additional coverage of the funeral and reaction from those in attendance in the coming days.
Amtrak lost a good leader although I disagreed with Boardman on issues he was a good leader Amtrak will miss him.
Must’ve been heard throughout at least half of NYC
Very Cool!!!
Respectful farewell.
