CHICAGO — Metra and Amtrak service have resumed on Canadian National’s line between Chicago and Joliet following a one-day interruption because of a freight-train derailment.

Metra resumed regular Heritage Corridor service this morning after having to cancel all seven trains on that route Monday. And Amtrak’s train tracker shows the first outbound Lincoln Service train of the morning, No. 301, arriving early for its scheduled stop at Joliet. Amtrak cancelled two trains Monday because of the derailment of five freight cars, and was scheduled to reroute eight others via Metra’s Rock Island District between Chicago and Joliet.
