— Amtrak has made more adjustments to its schedules in the Northeast. In addition to the previously announced Northeast Corridor changes  [see “Trains News Wire Digest,” March 14, 2020], these changes have been made or are on tap:

– As of today (Sunday, March 15), the Maple Leaf will not be serving Toronto, beginning and terminating at Niagara Falls, N.Y., and the Adirondack will begin and end in Albany, N.Y., suspending service to a number of communities in northern New York and Montreal.

– As of Monday, March 16, Keystone Service will operate on its Saturday schedule on all days, with no service to the stations at Ardmore, Paoli, Downingtown, Parkesburg, Cornwells Heights, Coatesville, and Exton.

– Also as of Monday, Amtrak’s Hartford Line and Valley Flyer services will operate on Saturday schedules. CTrail’s Hartford Line service will also follow a Saturday schedule.

Amtrak cautions that “minor additional schedule adjustments may be made.” Check Amtrak.com and the Amtrak mobile apps for updates.

— Two more transit agencies have announced service reductions as ridership falls because of the coronavirus outbreak:
– Metrolinx, the parent organization for Toronto-area transit service, is reducing schedules for GO Transit trains and the UP Express airport service effective Wednesday, March 18. The new schedules are available here.
– The San Francisco-area Caltrain service will reduce weekday schedules effective March 17, discontinuing its “Baby Bullet” express trains. The new schedule is available here.
