BUCYRUS, Ohio – Bucyrus Railcar Repair LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cathcart Rail Holdings, has expanded its flagship Bucyrus repair facility by acquiring the adjacent facility and assets of the former American & Ohio Locomotive Crane Co.

American & Ohio recently relocated operations to Duluth, Minn., as part of an acquisition by IPS Cranes.

Located south of Bucyrus Railcar’s exisiting property, and with direct connection through its main yard, this expansion adds an additional 25 acres comprised of 163,000 square feet under roof, 10 repair spots, and yard capacity for up to 75 cars. The purchased machinery and equipment includes overhead cranes, mobile cranes, a blast and paint booth, rail scale, and, fabrication machinery.

The entire Bucyrus complex now spans almost 60 acres with 330,000 square feet under roof, including a new, two-story office building. The owners hope to soon add the ability to dismantle railcars as well.

The facility is AAR M-100, M-970, and M-992 certified, with additional accreditation underway. Norfolk Southern provides direct switching service, with access to CSX Transportation and Chicago, Fort Wayne & Eastern available.
