Multiple groundbreaking ceremonies were held Thursday along the route of the 26-mile line, NBC-5 of Dallas-Fort Worth reports. The route will use a former Cotton Belt right-of-way to connect Plano to DFW International Airport.
Like the recently opened TEXRail system serving the DFW Airport from Fort Worth, DART’s Silver Line will use diesel multiple unit trainsets, with 10 stations in seven communities. Upon scheduled completion in 2022, trains will operate with 30-minute headways during peak period and 60-minute off-peak frequencies.
Outstanding!! About time. Population in Plano and Collin County has grown tremendously, since 2010 at 782,000, and topping 1 million last year.
