Priority goes to projects of regional or national significance, for which the grant will make a significant impact, and that will be spent by Dec. 31, 2019. Projects nearing completion are preferred.
This is the 19th annual award from the magazine.
Proposals should be no more than 200 words, and include a basic project budget and up to five images. Applications should be sent by email to presaward@trainsmag.com or mailed to Trains Preservation Award, P.O. Box 1612, Waukesha, WI 53187.
Editor Jim Wrinn will announce the winner Nov. 10 at the Heritage Rail Alliance annual meeting in Santa Fe, N.M., and on Trains News Wire. The winner will be profiled in the January 2019 issue.

I think the Trains Magazine $10,000 Preservation Award should go to Dynamic Rail Preservation for restoration on their only surviving (l think) Ex Amtrak SDP40F #644. Dynamic Rail Preservation is a non profit organization and restoration has been very slow on this engine for years but the engine is operational.
Plus I would like to see this engine back in original Amtrak Phase 1 colors again.
