ORANGE, Calif. — Donna DeMartino has been named managing director of the Los Angeles-San Diego-San Luis Obispo Rail Corridor Agency, effective Jan. 27.
DeMartino will oversee management and operations of state-supported, Amtrak-operated Pacific Surfliner passenger trains along the LOSSAN corridor. She replaces Jennifer Berenger, who has led the agency since 2012. Berenger has been named as deputy CEO of the Orange County Transportation Authority.
The appointment of DeMartino, most recently CEO of the San Joaquin Regional Transit District, was unanimously approved by LOSSAN’s executive committee. The agency is governed by an 11-member board of officials representing rail owners, operators, and planning agencies along the 351-mile, six-county coastal corridor.
“I am confident Ms. DeMartino will effectively lead the LOSSAN Agency to meet our goals of increasing ridership, enhancing operational flexibility, and ensuring safety for the millions of riders who depend on us each year,” Al Murray, chairman of the LOSSAN Agency, said in a press release.
Mr. O’Neill, I think you intended your comment to refer to the report on Point Defiance.
Could the errant curve be realigned? Of course there are approaches on either side of it that would need re-engineering.

You’re right – I had the two confused.
In my two years (2013-2014) of riding the Surfliner, the closest thing to a lounge car being the cafe car. OTOH, it was nice to ride the LD coach with much better leg room.
Lounge car on the Coast Starlight was a different matter, never got to ride those, but did ride the SP full length dome cars back in 1976.
Any chance she will put the lounge cars back on? I miss those things

Donna is very well respected in California transit circles. I wish her the best at LOSSAN!
