FRANKFORT, Ill. — Metra CEO Jim Derwinski is scheduled to appear at a town hall meeting by an Illinois state senator on safety concerns arising from a November incident at a grade crossing in Mokena, Ill.

State Sen. Michael E. Hastings, D-Tinley Park, Ill., will host the Feb. 12 meeting at the Lincoln-Way East High School auditorium, 201 Colorado Ave. in Frankfort, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Herald-News reports.

The meeting was sparked by a Nov. 9 incident on Metra’s Rock Island District, when a Metra train narrowly missed two vehicles at the 191st Street grade crossing because of a crossing-gate malfunction.
