GARIBALDI, Ore. — Skip Lichter’s locomotive made it. Yes, from a lonely Wisconsin valley, over the Great Plains, and through the Rocky Mountains, Lichter’s 2-8-2, Saginaw Timber (or Polson Lumber) No. 2 is at its new home in Oregon.
The trip took 13 days, start-to-finish. But officials with the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad have said they’re excited to see the locomotive, and Lichter, join their Oregon family. More steam tests remain, but the logging Mikado may see revenue service as early as summer 2018.
Great work but a sad example of why a museum never takes donations with “strings” attached.
Video’s, like this, bring alive an event, that most of us never see!
Great video — Thanks for sharing!
Hat’s off to call involved! It’s a gorgeous little piece of history. Long may she instruct the young about the glories of railroads and steam locomotives.
