DENVER — Regional Transportation District General Manager Dave Genova will retire after more than 25 years with the agency.
Genova notified RTD board chair Doug Tisdale of his decision on Thursday.
“It has been a privilege to serve the Board, our incredible team of employees and our community. I am confident that our very capable leadership team will continue to guide the agency in our mission to serve the traveling public,” Genova said in a statement issued by the RTD on Friday. “It has been an honor to have shared in many industry-leading projects and I am proud of the successes we achieved during my nearly five-year term as General Manager and CEO.”
No date of departure has been set. The announcement says Genova will work with the board to “assure a seamless and smooth transition” to a new manager.
Genova’s announcement came on the same day the board heard the results of a survey on service issues caused by a labor shortage, an issue one board member called “an emergency.” [See “Denver RTD survey: riders will trade service cuts for more reliability,” Trains News Wire, Nov. 22, 2019.]
Dave Genova was personally responsible for the inability to hire people? I would be firing the Operations Director or the HR Manager.
