SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Transit Authority has named Carolyn Gonot as its new executive director, ending a six-month search.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Gonot is the first woman to hold the position for the agency, which operates the FrontRunner commuter rail line, along with TRAX light rail and bus service.
She comes to UTA after serving as chief planning and engineering officer at the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority in the San Jose, Calif., area. She had worked at the VTA since 1996.
“Service is the key to what we do,” Gonot said in a press release announcing the hiring. “I’ll be focused on advancing the board’s vision toensure the agency is aligned with the anticipated growth along the Wasatch Front and the transit service needs of the communities UTA serves.”

Isn’t that the same agency that was covered in an article on this news wire two days ago as being under grand jury investigation? I wonder if she was stifled at her old job.
