CHICAGO – Metra’s UP West Line schedule will not change Sept. 3
as previously reported on News Wire, and the current schedule will continue.
Union Pacific, which owns the three UP lines in the Metra system and operates them with their own employees under a purchase-of-service agreement with Metra, determined its proposed changes on the UP West Line could result in conflicts between commuter and freight trains along the busy rail corridor.
Under the previously announced schedule change, departure times of some off-peak trains would have been adjusted.
Minor schedule changes on four other lines – the BNSF, UP Northwest, Rock Island and Heritage Corridor – will take place as planned on Sept. 3. Details about those changes can be found at
