LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. — Village and Metra officials celebrated the completion of renovation of Metra’s Libertyville station on Friday, holding a ribbon-cutting for the revamped facility on the Milwaukee North line.

The $1.3 million project renovated the 1,464-square foot station, added ADA-accessible restroom facilities, revised the roof line to create a vaulted ceiling, and added other architectural elements, according to a Metra press release.

The project was funded with federal money for station improvements and by Libertyville’s commuter parking lot funds.

It is the second station opening for Libertyville in less than two months. In June, the city marked the opening of a new shelter at the Prairie Crossing stop on the Milwaukee North line, replacing an aging “temporary” structure that had been in use for years.
