DENVER — Alpenglow Rail Services Corp and partner Connor, Clark & Lunn Infrastructure have acquired Alberta Midland Railway Terminal Ltd., the companies announced this week.
The terminal, approximately 30 kilometers (18.6) miles east of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, in the Greater Edmonton region, becomes Alpenglow’s third rail terminal in Canada to go with three in the U.S. Gulf Coast. The Alberta Midland facility covers 300 acres and has more than 1,400 railcar storage spots as well as a unit-train capable loop track, and is the only dual-served rail terminal in Alberta’s Industrial Heartland, connecting to both Canadian National and Canadian Pacific. Alpenglow plans to expand its services to include transloading, railcar cleaning, and railcar repair.
“We are thrilled to add AMRT to our portfolio,” Alpenglow CEO Rich Montgomery said in a press release. “The AMRT team has developed an exceptional business, and we look forward to continuing to drive growth in Lamont County. Having dual service to multiple Class I railroads provides AMRT’s customers competitive options resulting in lower transportation fees and a much larger network of origination and destination locations.”
