WASHINGTON — Amtrak has expanded its list of train cancellations because of approaching winter storms, adding one train to the list for today (Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2025) and planned cancellations and increasing the list for Wednesday, Feb. 12, from seven to 14.
The original group of cancellations was announced Monday at 4:20 p.m. ET [see “Amtrak announces winter-storm cancellations …,” Feb. 10, 2025]. Added in an advisory posted at 5 p.m. ET today are:
Today (Feb. 11)
— The New York-Newport News portion of overnight Northeast Regional train No. 67, a 7:55 p.m. departure from Boston. The New York portion was scheduled to depart at 12:20 a.m. on Wednesday.
Wednesday, Feb. 12
— The Roanoke, Va.-Washington portions of Northeast Regional No. 134, scheduled to depart Roanoke at 6:15 a.m., and No. 66, scheduled to depart Roanoke at 4:23 p.m. The Washington-New York portion of train 134 and the overnight Washington-Boston portion of No. 66 are scheduled.
— Newport News-New York train No. 186, scheduled to depart Newport News at 3:51 p.m.
— All Missouri River Runner service: train 311 from St. Louis to Kansas City (an 8:10 a.m. departure); train 316 from Kansas City (a 4:05 p.m. departure), and the St. Louis-Kansas City segment of combined Lincoln Service–Missouri River Runner trains 318 and 319.
As with the earlier cancellations, no alternative transportation is being offered for these trains.
Trackwork schedule changes set for several trains
Unrelated to the weather, Amtrak has also posted altered schedules for the City of New Orleans beginning Wednesday, Feb. 12, and lasting more than two months to accommodate Canadian National track work. For the first month, both the north and southbound trains will operate two hours earlier; beginning March 14 or 15, trains will operate one hour behind their normal schedule.
