OLYMPIA, Wash. — Amtrak Cascades service between Seattle and Portland, Ore., will expand by two daily round trips as of Monday, Dec. 11, increasing service to six daily round trips between the two cities, as well as changes to service to Eugene, Ore., and Vancouver, British Columbia.
Under the new schedules, the first trains each day will leave Seattle at 5:52 a.m. and Portland a6 6:45 a.m., with the last departure from Portland at 7:25 p.m. and from Seattle at 7:50 p.m. The complete new schedules are available here. Tickets for the new trains go on sale Friday, Dec. 1.
“The additional roundtrips and updated schedules provide more convenient travel options for Amtrak Cascades passengers,” Jason Biggs, director of the Washington State Department of Transportation’s Rail, Freight and Ports Division, said in a press release. “Many of our trains are sold out, so the addition of these two trains between Portland and Seattle has long been awaited by our customers.”
The schedules will include two round trips between Portland and Eugene, and two between Seattle and Vancouver, B.C. Schedule revisions mean the northbound morning train from Eugene will depart later and and allow one-seat travel to Seattle, while later morning departures will occur in both directions on the morning trains between Seattle and Vancouver. Afternoon trains will depart earlier from Vancouver to Seattle, and on the train allowing Portland-Seattle-Vancouver service.
