NEW YORK — Amtrak has fully restored service between New York Penn Station and New Haven, Conn., the company says in an update on its website.

Service had been halted between New York and New Haven since Tuesday afternoon because of fires affecting Amtrak’s catenary power system [see “Fire knocks out power …,” Trains News Wire, Nov. 12, 2024].

Amtrak’s update says “minor updates should be expected” through the area. The company first reported that power had been restored in a post on X.com shortly after 3:30 p.m. ET, after earlier extending its estimate for service restoration from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. And at least one Northeast Regional train, No. 184, has been cancelled between Washington and New York, but will operate between New York and Boston.

Further updates should be available at the Amtrak NEC Alerts feed.

A separate issue between Philadelphia and Wilmington, Del., has also been corrected, but delays remain possible in that area, as well.
