PITTSBURGH — Railroad Development Corp. has named Nathan M. (Nate) Asplund as executive vice president. In his new role, Asplund will be responsible for support and business development for RDC operations worldwide.

Asplund will join RDC on March 1. Most recently, he was partner and president of Columbia Strategic Consulting Group, a Fort Worth, Texas-based company involved in project support and advocacy for freight rail and logistics, transportation public affairs, and tribal and First Nation relations. His previous experience includes stints as CEO of Florida East Coast Railway, CEO of the Red River Valley & Western Railroad, and multiple roles at BNSF Railway between 2007 and 2015.

RDC’s rail investments include interests in the Iowa Interstate Railroad; British battery train manufacturer Vivarail; North America’s Pop-Up Metro battery-powered transit program; and rail operations in Peru, Germany, France, and Belgium.
