AUSTIN, Texas — CapMetro commuter rail service will be suspended from Wednesday, July 5, to Friday, July 14, the transit agency has announced, to allow for maintenance along the rail road and work on McKalla Station, a new stop near Q2 Stadium, the home of Austin’s Major League Soccer team. That station is scheduled to open this fall.

Operation is scheduled to resume on July 15 with special service for Austin FC’s game at the stadium.

A series of bus routes will offer alternative service to downtown Austin during the rail shutdown. Information is available here.

CapMetro’s Red Line is a 32-mile, nine-station route between Leander, Texas, and downtown Austin. Open since 2010, it operates a fleet of 10 Stadler Rail diesel-electric trainsets.
