Public rail travel
AUSTRIA – When marketing public transportation to new patronage, especially when it comes to rail travel, sometimes promotions must include thinking outside the box.
That’s exactly what happened during two summer festivals in Austria as free KlimaTicket passes were given to six participants in exchange for a specific tattoo. The promotion was first announced on KlimaTicket’s July 6 Instagram post for the Electric Love Festival in Salzburg, later offered for the August Frequency Festival in St. Pölten.
Introduced in 2021 by One Mobility GmbH, KlimaTickets (Climate Tickets) are annual passes to all of Austria’s public transportation services, including the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB). According to the translated Austria Press Agency’s (APA) July 19 article, “Passengers can travel throughout Austria for three euros per day – a total of 1,095 euros per year.” This equals to $1,171.40.
The APA reports that the first three participants per festival to receive a tattoo with the KlimaTicket logo are given one free pass that is valid for a year. Only adults were admitted during the early afternoons of the festivities. Jakob Lambert, managing director of One Mobility GmbH, comments that the feedback on the promotion was positive, though a decision to offer it again in 2024 is yet to be determined.
You can find the designs real easy on-line. Interesting but I’ll pay my way.
