BNSF employee killed in Denver yard accident

BNSF Railway logoDENVER — A BNSF Railway employee has died following an accident at the railroad’s Globeville yard in downtown Denver on Wednesday.

According to the Denver Post, Denver police reported they were responding to an accident involving a train and a pedestrian shortly before noon, and announced the man had died about 3:40 p.m. The victim’s name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The National Transportation Safety Board announced Wednesday evening that it would be investigating the accident. KMGH-TV reports that BNSF confirmed the death in a statement. “The entire BNSF family is saddened by this incident,” the statement reads, “and we extend our deepest sympathy and thoughts to the family and loved ones of the employee involved.”
