FORT WORTH, Texas – BNSF Railway announced two of its automotive facilities, operated by service partner Inter-Rail Group, were recognized as some of the best in North America by the Association of American Railroads. The awards were accepted recently at the Damage Freight Prevention Convention in Minneapolis.
In a news release dated June 11, 2024, Kansas City Auto received Origin of the Year after scoring 99.45%, while San Diego Automotive was awarded Destination of the Year with a 99.98% score. This is based on what are described as stringent and thorough audits on the level of operation safety, quality, physical security, and facility maintenance. They’re conducted by MxV Rail at all rail-served facilities in North America unannounced, according to the release.
“This is the first origin award win for BNSF, and the first time for us to have both origin and destination wins in a single year,” said system hub operations director Tara Sprinkle. “We look forward to continuing to build upon these achievements in delivering consistent, high-quality service to our customers.”
