COCOA, Fla.— Brightline is scheduled begin higher-speed testing on another segment of its route to Orlando as of this Saturday, a 13-mile portion of track in north Brevard County that will see 79 mph testing beginning this Saturday and 110-mph testing in early 2023.
During testing, flaggers will be stationed at a total of 18 grade crossings in the communities of Sharpes, City Point, Cocoa, and Rockledge continuously from 6 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, through 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, while the new signal system is placed in operation.
As it has elsewhere when testing begins, Brightline is working with local media to raise public awareness of the higher-speed train operations and the need for safety around its tracks.

The testing in Brevard County comes shortly after the first 110-mph testing, which begain Oct. 21 in Martin and St. Lucie counties after a series of short delays. Testing will continue in segments along the 129-mile extension from West Palm Beach to Orlando until revenue service launches sometime in 2023.
