MIAMI — Brightline is altering operations between Miami and West Palm Beach as of this afternoon (Wednesday, Nov. 9) because of the approaching Tropical Storm Nicole, which forecasters have predicted will be a Category 1 hurricane when it makes landfall on Thursday.

But while the passenger operator initially said it also expected to modify Thursday operations, it notified passengers on Wednesday evening that it would resume normal operations Thursday morning.

Today’s final southbound departure from West Palm Beach will be at 2:48 p.m., while the final northbound departure from Miami will be at 4:48 p.m. Brightline+ ride services will continue until train service ends in Miami-Dade County; in Palm Beach and Broward counties, private (Tesla) rides will continue until train service ends, while other ride services are suspended.

Thursday trains will begin with a 7:48 a.m. southbound departure from West Palm Beacn and a 9:48 a.m. northbound departure from Miami.

The company also announced it had suspended all construction activities because of the storm. Planned high speed testing in Martin and St. Lucie Counties has been rescheduled for Nov. 18-20.

— Updated at 6:23 p.m. CST with plans for Thursday operation; updated at 6:26 p.m. with suspension of construction and rescheduling of high speed testing.
